There are very few things in this world that a human needs to survive.
Air, water, shelter . . . food.
Food is elemental to our survival- and how versatile it is! We can spend hours lovingly creating cuisine such as a buerre blanc, soufflé, or bouillabaisse. Or we can keep it simple with fresh fruit and vegetables. However you prefer to prepare it, food is a necessity.
Have you ever wondered why an apple is “better” for you than a candy bar, or how energy bars actually provide energy? What you put inside your body has a direct effect on your life and how you are able to live it, and an informed mind can make better choices about what to consume, and when.
Here at pabulum we’re not interested in fad diets, exaggerated media stories or miracle cure-alls. What we are interested in is a true revolution in the way we see food and how it interacts with the quality and [quantity] of our lives. We believe it’s important to know that food has enhancing and detracting consequences on your body. We’ll provide you with the facts for you to make your own educated decisions. Because wouldn’t it be great if that day came when you looked at a bag of chips, and knew that eating it would be more beneficial than not eating it? (Yes, it’s true!)
We want you to know how your body works and what it needs to operate at the highest possible level of efficiency. Along the way, we intend to get a little dirty (literally!) because we believe that vegetables are the key to a healthy and productive lifestyle. We’d like to give you some tips and tricks for making the most of whatever gardening space you may have; be it rural, suburban or urban. We wholeheartedly support farmers and whole food advocates- and we love to lavish praise where it’s due- so you’ll see us periodically profiling those who we believe are doing it right.
We’re also out to demystify all those unusual fruits and vegetables that you’re not entirely sure of what to do with, and provide great tasting ways to incorporate these veggies into your everyday lifestyle.
The whole process is important: from the moment that shovel hits the dirt, to the way the farmer tends his crop; the recipes that introduce new vegetables in accessible and delicious ways, and- most importantly- how our bodies react to everything that vegetable provides in energy, and thus fuel for our lives.
So, welcome to the pabulum, and take a look around. We’re excited to begin this journey with you, and if you have any questions, drop us a line. We’d love to hear from you!
Bon appétit!
